Place of Powerful Prayers

This school has been born from the lineage of 50 Generations from the valley of Halawa, Molokai, Hawaii. Molokai Pule O'o - The place of powerful prayers. There is a mo'olelo that speaks of the kahuna's of Molokai that were known to be so powerful that they deterred others (Papa's warriors) in coming to Molokai as they stood waiting for them.  They did not run. They stood together as a silent army. No fist was raised. When the warriors began to beach their boats the chanting began. It began small and became a mighty roar.  The warriors threw their spears but they fell short of hitting anyone.  Men trying to come onto the beach were falling back into the surf choking, unable to breathe. They did not invade Molokai at this time.   And so it was named and became known as Molokai Pule O'o, The place of powerful prayers. In this school's name Halau Pule O'o, This place that we speak of connects us all the way from Halawa Valley, Molokai to this Halau (school) in Cairns Australia.  A special mahalo to my teacher Kumu Nui Lawrence Aki, the Mana O Molokai Ohana and the way of the ancestors, I love you.
